Basics of Aerodynamics

Learn the science that explains how and why aircraft fly.

This module explains aerodynamics using simple language and visual understanding. Students first learn what aerodynamics means and how air flows around an aircraft (20 mins). This is followed by a detailed explanation of the four fundamental forces of flight—lift, drag, thrust, and weight—and how they interact during flight (30 mins). Students then learn about Bernoulli’s principle and airfoil design to understand how wings generate lift (25 mins), and finally explore the concept of angle of attack and stall, explaining how improper angles can cause loss of control or crashes in both RC and real aircraft (20 mins).
